With superstars showing up on court, join for the Mid-Autumn Reunion Day

After two open days’ qualifying matches, the men’s main draw of the 2023 China Open will officially kick off today. Many top players will make their first appearance at the 2023 China Open in the next two days.

Andy Murray, former world No.1 and 2016 men’s singles champion will make his debut on the Diamond Court against Australian Alex de Minaur, which marks the first night match on the Diamond Court this year.

The China Open holds a special significance for Murray, as it was here in 2016 that he started his journey to become world No.1 by winning the champion. In 2019, after coming back from injury, Murray returned to the China Open and reached the quarterfinals by defeating Matteo Berrettini and Cameron Norrie.

It is worth mentioning that his opponent, Alex de Minaur is currently at a career-high singles ranking of 12. This year, he reached the final of the Toronto Masters and the fourth round of the US Open. Moreover, in their head-to-head record, de Minaur has a perfect record of four wins out of four against Murray, including two victories this year. Therefore, this match will be a test for Murray.  It’s a thrilling encounter that is worth looking forward to who will come out on top in this suspenseful battle.

Zhou Yi, the 18-year-old Chinese rising star and Chinese pair Cui Jie and Wang Aoran will also compete in the first round respectively.

In addition, recently crowned champions in Chengdu and Zhuhai, Alexander Zverev and Karen Khachanov, will team up with Marcelo Melo and Andrey Rublev to compete in the first round of men’s doubles.

On Friday, also the traditional Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival, more superstars will make their debut at the 2023 China Open, including Carlos Alcaraz, Daniil Medvedev, Jannik Sinner, Holger Rune, and Holger Rune. Another Chinese rising star, Shang Juncheng, will also make an appearance in the first round of men’s singles.

Several top WTA players, such as Aryna Sabalenka, Elena Rybakina, and Coco Gauff, have also arrived in Beijing for the WTA tournament.
