Beijing, August 27 — The China Open officially announced the player entry list for the 2025 championship. From September 14 to October 5, 14 Grand Slam champions and 5 world No.1 including current world No.1s Aryna Sabalenka and Jannik Sinner, will gather at the National Tennis Center in Beijing to compete in front of China’s best and most passionate sports fans.
5 Top-10 Players Headline Men’s Draw, Sinner Leads the Charge
As Asia’s most prestigious and highest-level combined men’s and women’s tournament , this year’s China Open boasts five of the ATP’s top 10 players in its main draw.
2023 China Open champion and current world No.1 Jannik Sinner returns alongside No.3 Alexander Zverev, No.8 Alex de Minaur, No.9 Karen Khachanov, and No.10 Lorenzo Musetti. They will face strong challenges from stars like major winner and a world No.1 Daniil Medvedev, and Masters 1000 champions Andrey Rublev, and Jakub Mensik.
12 Grand Slam Champions Gather, Women’s Singles Competition Heats Up
Following last year’s expansion to a 96-draw women’s singles, the 2025 China Open features 76 direct acceptances. The impressive field includes 12 Grand Slam champions: Aryna Sabalenka, Coco Gauff, Iga Swiatek, Madison Keys, Elena Rybakina, Naomi Osaka, Jeļena Ostapenko, Sofia Kenin, Emma Raducanu, Marketa Vondrousova, Barbora Krejcikova, and Bianca Andreescu. Among them, Swiatek, Sabalenka, and Naomi Osaka have all reached the WTA world No.1 ranking. On the Chinese side, Olympic Singles Gold Medallist from the Paris Games, Zheng Qinwen, Wang Xinyu, and Wang Yafan have secured direct entry based on their rankings.
With the expansion of the women’s singles draw , non-seeded players must win seven consecutive matches to take the title, a challenge on par with the Grand Slams. As the final WTA 1000 tournament of the season, the China Open is a critical battleground in the race to the WTA Finals. While Sabalenka and Swiatek have already qualified, Coco Gauff, Madison Keys, and rising star Mirra Andreeva , are all in a race to make the top 8 year-end event, thus making China Open points crucial.
Venue Upgrades Deliver Immersive Viewing Experience
The National Tennis Centre is has been undergoing a comprehensive upgrade for the 2025 championship. The South Plaza will serve as a high-efficiency hub, opening new direct routes to the core areas, including Main Complex, Capital Diamond Court, and Lotus Court.
Five new practice courts meeting international standards and a special “Signature Zone” will is being added on the west side to allow close interaction between fans and players. The east side will feature a clay-themed garden viewing area. The “China Open Ring” and surrounding areas near the Brad Drewett Court will be enhanced with new leisure spots, creating an energetic and relaxed atmosphere throughout the venue.
The optimised venue layout will result in an expansion of nearly 15,000 square meters of additional space, significantly increasing capacity and convenience.
For comfort viewing, all Diamond Court box seats have been upgraded with elegant, modern “China Open Blue” finishes for an entirely new experience. Additionally, the Diamond Court will receive a major sound system upgrade to ensure crystal-clear and three-dimensional sound for a truly immersive court-side atmosphere.
